Problem

With so many fragmented launchers and scattered game experiences, it’s hard for players to find a central solution that works for everything. The website exists to introduce Onyx as that solution—showing what it can do and encouraging users to download the launcher for a simpler, more unified gaming experience.

Resources

I looked at platforms like Epic Games and Razer’s website as key references. Epic helped me understand how game stores structure content and highlight features, while Razer informed how to present hardware-focused tools like tuning and control customization. These references shaped both the layout and tone of the Onyx website.

Josef Alber’s “Interaction of Color” was my primary source for when my project was still focused on learning color theory.

The Temperature Blanket was a big influence on my final project. The website generates a color palette based on the weather of a certain area. It’s what inspired me to link my project to the circadian rhythm and assigning shades of violet.

In the final outcome, the hero animation was created using a break down video by MotionXP.

01 UX & Structure

02 UX
& Structure

The website is designed to guide users through what Onyx is, what it offers, and why it matters—ending with a strong call to download the launcher. I structured the content around a simple flow: introduce the product, highlight its features, show its value, and invite users to take action. Each section is focused, visual, and easy to navigate, so visitors quickly understand how Onyx improves the gaming experience.

02 Wireframes

I created wireframes to plan the layout and flow of the site before moving into design. These helped me map out the key sections—like the feature highlights, community tools, and download call-to-action—so everything felt clear and purposeful. The wireframes made sure the user journey was smooth and that the content supported the main goal: getting people to download Onyx.

The visual identity of Onyx is centered around a purple-based palette, chosen for its futuristic tone, emotional depth, and distinctiveness. Purple evokes a sense of creativity, mystery, and technology, qualities that align with Onyx’s goal of redefining and unifying the gaming experience. It also helps the brand stand out visually, making it more memorable while still feeling sleek and modern.

04 Outcomes

To Be Updated

The final project resulted in an interactive website that showcases 45 thoughtfully curated violet shades linked to the circadian rhythm. Users can easily explore and create personalized color palettes that resonate emotionally and visually. The design balances minimalism with expressive color use, encouraging reflection and connection through color. This project highlights violet’s potential as a versatile and meaningful design.

Call-to-action

I created a gallery with 72 design experiments currently, using different mediums like type, motion, and texture. These were a way for me to test how violet could work in different styles and moods, and they helped me explore the color’s flexibility through hands-on making.
